The ski brand Kästle aims to establish itself in the market, particularly as a successful outfitter for ski racers. Tomáš Bank, as the new head of the Alpine Racing division, is expected to drive the brand's success.
The traditional Austrian company and ski brand Kästle has big plans. The ski brand, now back in its original location of Hohenems in Vorarlberg, looks back on an eventful history. After disappearing from the market at the end of the 1990s, it reappeared in 2007. Now it aims to build on past successes, which it celebrated in the past with skiers like Primin Zurbriggen.
Since returning to the Alpine Ski World Cup in 2019, Kästle has been striving for success and recognition. Among the most famous skiers who use Kästle skis is undoubtedly the Slovenian Ilka Stuhec. Jan Zabystrán surprisingly won the Super-G in Val Gardena (Italy) last season on Kästle skis, securing the brand's first World Cup victory. The company now aims to continue this success story and has signed Tomáš Bank, a professional with many years of World Cup experience, to help them achieve this.
Tomáš Bank has close ties to international ski racing. After his own career as a ski racer, he worked closely with his brother Ondřej Bank for many years and was part of the era that saw the Czech Republic's only podium finishes in the men's Alpine World Cup – until Jan Zabystrán's success. Since 2016, Bank has coached Ester Ledecká and played a key role in her successes at the Olympic Games, World Championships, and the World Cup. After many years as Ledecká's coach, Bank wanted to take on a new challenge. He remains involved in ski racing in his new role and, together with Kästle as head of racing, is pursuing ambitious goals.
“I want to continue Kästle Racing’s successful path of recent years. We must focus on providing the best possible support for our athletes. An important step will be improving our material testing so that we have all available data on every ski we produce. This will allow us to keep pace with the top brands in the World Cup. I am very much looking forward to working with Rainer Nachbaur in the area of ski development.”
CEO Markus Weeger is also delighted about the collaboration: “We are very happy to have Tomáš join the Kästle team. His many years of experience and his reputation in the ski circuit are a great asset to our racing team. We appreciate his calm, analytical approach and attach great importance to his excellent communication skills in dealing with athletes, which will help us to develop as a team as a whole.”
