Lindsey Vonn is absolutely amazing!

Lindsey Vonn, six years after her official retirement and seven years after her last World Cup victory, achieved a breathtaking win today in the women's downhill at the Alpine Ski World Cup in St. Moritz, with an incredible lead. The sporting world has never seen anything like it!

When Lindsey Vonn returned to the ski circuit last season, six years after her official retirement, the 40-year-old's comeback was met with some derision. "What's the 'old lady' still doing here?" people whispered. "Is she bored at home?" With results ranging from 15th to 40th place, expectations were far from met, and the critics felt vindicated. This winter, however, the cry suddenly shifted: "Watch out, Lindsey's hitting her stride!" Apparently, the legendary Norwegian ski racer Aksel Lund Svindal was helping her out, making significant changes to her training and race strategy. And suddenly, Lindsey Vonn was even taking first place in training. During today's German television broadcast, former German ski racer and current ski expert Felix Neureuther declared Lindsey Vonn the favorite before the race. Really? And he was right. Lindsey Vonn was scheduled to start with bib number 16. After Nina Ortlieb's opening run, German skier Kira Weidle, starting with bib number 4, took the lead. But the real action was yet to come. One of the top favorites was Austrian Cornelia Hütter, known for her top results in recent years. She took the lead by 0.16 seconds over Kira Weidle. Just one bib number later, however, the new German skiing sensation, Emma Aicher, seized the lead. Now the action was fast and furious. Mirjam Puchner from Austria started with bib number 4. A fantastic glider, she built a significant lead early on the flat section, ultimately taking the lead by 0.25 seconds at the finish. Next up was the "Grand Dame," the Italian downhill dominator Sofia Goggia, who lost a considerable 0.77 seconds at the top and could only close the gap to 0.15 seconds by the finish, securing second place. But then came Lindsey Vonn, the secret favorite according to Felix Neureuther, and he was proven right. The intermediate time was already green at the top, but she skied the lower sections incredibly well, almost too well to be true. When she finally pulled away to a 1.16-second lead over her pursuers at the finish, it was unbelievable. 1.16 seconds, when places 2-13 are separated by less than a second – that's a world of difference, and this at 41 years old and 7 years after her last World Cup victory. It's simply incredible. Nothing like it has ever been seen in the world of sports. Lindsey Vonn is simply unbelievable, and this day will go down in sporting history.
