With an impressive first run and a one-second lead over Daniel Yule (SUI) and Alexis Pinturault (FRA), Marcel Hirscher (AUT) set the course for victory, which he secured with twice the fastest run time.
The race was characterized by numerous failures of the favorites. In the first run it was Manuel Feller (AUT) who got a super start, but got backward in the middle section and took off. Clement Noel (FRA), who could win the last two races, threaded after only a few turns. Henrik Kristoffersen (NOR), who finished fifth in the first run, was eliminated in the second run with a threading rarely seen with him. Andre Myhrer (SWE) was also not able to continue his good performance of the first run and was also eliminated in the lower part.
Alongside Marcel Hirscher, Alexis Pinturault impressed with a dynamic skiing style in the second run and secured final second place ahead of Switzerland's Daniel Yule, who started the second run in second last place.
The performance of the Bulgarian Albert Popov, who this time started the race with bib number 46 and finished in sixth place, was also pleasing. Felix Neureuther (GER) improved in the second run and finished the race as the best German in 8th place.
