The hard work seems to be finally rewarded. Two years ago we had published a big report about the Brazilian Henrique Avancini, who had won the world championship in MTB Marathon half a year before. Avancini was not yet so well known, but we discovered a great talent and fighter's heart. Now it shows in results in the Cross Country MTB World Cup, whose leadership he took over last year. In the international ranking he is set at number 1 ahead of world champion Jordan Sarrou and Nino Schurter. In particular, Avancini showed himself to be a workhorse as usual and very hardworking, completing 12 races anno Corona year 2020. But he not only scored plenty of points in his native Brazil, but also scored 400 World Cup points at the World Cup with two wins and a 5th place out of three races, impressively demonstrating that he is finally among the top of the international MTB elite. Had the Brazilian not had a flat tire at the World Championships, it would have been more than a 10th place and his lead over his pursuers would have been significantly greater. Henrique will start into 2021 with just as much verve. With his buddy Manuel Fumic of the Cannondale Factory Racing Team at his side, he will not only contest the Cape Epic together, but also get what there is to get in the World Cup. All the signs are green. The year 2021 can be great again for Henrique Avancini.
