Ferrari takes a double victory at the US Formula 1 Grand Prix and puts a lot of pressure on its opponents with this impressive comeback. Never in the last 10 years has it been so exciting when it comes to the Formula 1 Constructors' World Championship.
With five races to go before the season, the outcome of the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship is still completely open for the teams. McLaren is currently in the lead with 544 points, followed by Red Bull and Ferrari with 496 points. This means that the three teams are separated by less than 50 points. The outstanding results from Ferrari are mainly responsible for the excitement. With today's double victory, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz scored 43 points, compared to 12 points in the sprint race the day before. This means they are almost twice as high as the leading teams. An important preliminary decision was made at the start: Lando Norris in the McLaren started from pole, Max Verstappen from grid position, with the Ferraris behind him. In order to overtake Norris, Verstappen pushed him massively off the track in the first corner, creating a large gap through which Leclerc was able to slip, taking the lead. Charles Leclerc then drove away from everyone and it was a classic start-finish victory race. His teammate Carlos Sainz tried to do the same, but got stuck behind Verstappen. It was only the tire change in the middle of the race that led to the position swap. At the end of the race, Lando Norris tried to overtake Verstappen after a long pursuit. The overtaking maneuver in the corner was not entirely in accordance with the rules. Lando Norris crossed the finish line in third place, but was given a 5-second penalty by the stewards, which is why he finished fourth. Rookies Colapinto and Lawson were particularly impressive, finishing 10th and 9th. This race will make things more exciting for the constructors than they have been for many years. Three teams have what it takes to win the world championship. In just one week it's Mexico and a week later in Brazil.
