Ducati achieves sales record: over 53,000 motorcycles

Ducati proudly presents its 2019 sales figures: 53,183 Ducati motorcycles delivered to customers in 90 countries - Italy remains the largest sales market - Double-digit growth in China, Brazil and Spain - The Panigale is the best-selling superbike in the world for the second year in a row and record advance orders for the new Streetfighter V4 with deliveries starting in March 2020

Ducati Motor Holding delivered 53,183 motorcycles worldwide in 2019, even surpassing the previous year's figure of 53,004 motorcycles.

The Panigale made a significant contribution to this result: with sales of 8,304 motorcycles, it retains the market leadership established in 2018 and confirms its status as the best-selling superbike in the world with a market share of 25%.

The two new motorcycles launched in 2019 - the Hypermotard 950 and the Diavel 1260 - achieved sales of 4,472 and 3,129 respectively, doubling the total volume of previous versions in 2018.

The Multistrada family performed equally well, up 3% over 2018, thanks in part to the new 950 S and a revised 1260 Enduro.
With 12,160 deliveries, the best sales result since the debut, the multibike built in Bologna sixteen years ago.

Sales figures for 2019 have strengthened Ducati's position in the premium segment of the motorcycle market.

2019 has been a difficult but also gratifying year. We are working to make Ducati the most sought-after motorcycle brand in the world",

says Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding.

"The results we are achieving, the development of the range and the market response confirm that we are on the right track. In today's global market, one in four superbikes is a Panigale. The technical content we have carried over from the R version and our extensive racing experience ensure that the Panigale remains the benchmark for the category. In addition, the order books for the new Streetfighter V4 are full to bursting - more than 1,700 units are already on order - and deliveries will begin in March 2020."

"We are satisfied with the results achieved in 2019",

adds Francesco Milicia, Director Global Sales and After Sales

"Over the past twelve months, a comprehensive network development plan has been implemented with 54 new dealers in 20 countries. The expansion plan will continue this year to improve global coverage and provide a growing premium experience for our fans."

Sales in Italy continue to grow, confirming Italy as our strongest sales market. Motorcycle sales there totaled 9,474 units, an increase of 3% compared to 2018 and an increase of 20% over the last three years. In the United States, Ducati's deliveries amounted to 7,682 motorcycles, a decrease of only 2% for Ducati, despite the ongoing negative trend in which the market shrank by 7% year-on-year.
Brazil (+20%), Spain (+10%) and France (+8%), on the other hand, developed extremely positively. China, a country in which the Italian brand is particularly appreciated, continued the upward trend of recent years and, with 3,200 motorcycles sold (+12%), is now the fifth most important market for the motorcycle manufacturer from Bologna.

This positive result for 2019 allows Ducati to look to the future with confidence. The product range for 2020 has been expanded to include another model: Dealers will soon take delivery of the long-awaited Streetfighter V4. The Panigale can - in addition to the introduction of the new V2 - also count on a major upgrade of the V4 that will significantly improve performance and riding dynamics.

For world travelers and those who want to enjoy long-distance adventures in outstanding comfort, the Multistrada family sees the introduction of the new Grand Tour and the extension of the warranty to 4 years.

Last but not least, the Ducati Scrambler range - where the new 800 Dark was unveiled at EICMA - will see the addition of a new model in the coming months.
