Barebells is a new, trendy functional food brand from Sweden that offers modern sports food like protein bars, protein puddings and milkshakes. Today I had the opportunity to try the new flavor "Hazelnut & Nougat" (in good German hazelnut and nougat) of protein bars. And I must admit, it is a real taste experience!
Visually, the bars look appealing, the packaging design looks modern and stylish thanks to the matte colors. After opening the wrapper, you see a chocolate bar as you already know it from classic chocolate bars. At the first bite, a very satisfied feeling sets in, because Barebells has fully relied on the taste experience and won with it. The bar tastes really deliciously chocolaty with a slight sexy nougat note. Compliments at this point! Actually, the protein bar deserves 9 out of 5 points in terms of taste, but our rating system does not allow that, so we give it 5 out of 5 points.
In the mouth, the bar feels like many of its kind do, it's a bit chewy and sticky, but that doesn't really bother you much. The stomach feeling after consumption is all the more pleasant: No lumps in the stomach, nothing, tiptop.
And Barebells Hazelnut & Nougat is also able to keep up well with the nutritional values: 36% protein, 8.5% fiber, 27% carbohydrates (of which sugar 2.8%) and 14% fat (of which 9.2% fatty acids). There are bars that have higher protein content, but there are also protein bars with lower protein values.
Our conclusion: Recommended!
