  • Franco will ensure stability and continuity in the team alongside Pierre – in the new era of regulations, which begins in 2026.
  • A successful blend of experience and talent should propel the team forward in a year full of unprecedented opportunities and a new beginning.

In Formula 1, it's all about the numbers. On race weekends, data analysis, track temperature monitoring, and the hunt for every millisecond are essential. This Friday at the São Paulo Grand Prix is also dedicated to our number 43 car, as the BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team announces that Franco Colapinto will complete the driver lineup for the 2026 season.

Attentive fans and math enthusiasts will have noticed that the digital root of today's date (7.11.25) is Franco's starting number, which will therefore be displayed on one of our cars next year. This confirmation follows the multi-year contract signed in January of last year to secure Franco's services. Franco will drive alongside Pierre Gasly, who recently signed a long-term contract with the team. Together, they will drive the team forward and ensure stability and continuity for the 2026 season, which will offer unprecedented opportunities and a fresh start amidst a regulatory revolution. Since arriving in Enstone and making his racing debut for Alpine at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Franco has demonstrated his potential and steadily improved throughout the season, building close relationships with the engineers and team members.

This announcement comes shortly before the sprint weekend in São Paulo in front of a passionate and enthusiastic South American audience, whose chants are already echoing through the stands of the legendary Autódromo José Carlos Pace.

Flavio Briatore: “I have followed Franco’s development throughout his Formula 1 career and have always been convinced that he possesses the qualities and potential to become a top driver who can grow with the team. Our decision to continue our partnership in 2026 underlines our commitment and our full support for Franco and his development as a racing driver. This year has been difficult for the whole team; the circumstances were far from ideal, but Franco and Pierre have given their all to position us in the best possible way for next season. With Pierre and Franco, we have an excellent blend of experience, speed, and talent that will allow the team to continue developing and, we hope, to deliver some great moments for our fans next season.”

Franco Colapinto: “I am incredibly grateful to Flavio and the entire team for the trust they have placed in me to contribute to the team’s success. Since my Formula 1 debut, I was aware that, given the circumstances, it would be an enormous challenge to establish myself in this sport. It has been a long and difficult journey, and I am very proud to be driving for this team again in 2026, alongside Pierre, an exceptional teammate from whom I will undoubtedly continue to learn. This announcement in Brazil comes at a particularly symbolic time. We are close to my home country of Argentina, and with the strong support, this race feels like a home race for me. Having so many fans with us on this journey is also the reason we do this job. With the start of a new era in Formula 1 next year, I hope we can give every one of our fans real reasons to smile and celebrate. Vamos Alpine!”
