Lenzerheide opens first SnowBikepark in Switzerland

The Lenzerheide vacation region has been focusing on biking in summer for years. Now, with the first SnowBikepark in Switzerland and the guided fatbike tours, the first winter offers will follow. The SnowBikepark is considered a pilot project and will be open for three weeks from March 19, 2016.

At the Rothorn 1 gondola, the Arosa Lenzerheide snow sports region will open Switzerland's first SnowBikepark on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Until the end of the season, bikers will be able to practice their favorite pastime on the Curtschin slope (No. 30) even in winter. The slope will be closed off for this purpose and specially prepared for bikers. Depending on the snow conditions, it will be additionally upgraded with elements such as steep face curves, wave troughs or jumps. The SnowBikepark can be used with fatbikes as well as with classic bikes. Skiers and snowboarders reach the valley as usual via the Crapera slope (no. 21c).

Pilot project with good prospects for the future
The SnowBikepark is a pilot project of the Lenzerheide biker region. "The topic of biking in winter is becoming more and more topical. The demand within the bike community is growing and also the industry promotes this trend with the production of fatbikes" says Marco Böni, product manager bike of the vacation region Lenzerheide. The pilot phase of the SnowBikepark will last about three weeks. At the end of the season, a conclusion will be drawn: "Based on the number of visitors and feedback, we will decide whether we will open the SnowBikepark continuously in the coming winter season," Marco Böni emphasizes.

Fatbike tours
Already successfully launched were the guided fatbike tours in Lenzerheide. The first two dates of the so-called "Fatbike Xperience" were fully booked. Due to the great demand and the extremely positive feedback from the participants, the offer is also offered over the Easter days (March 24 - 28, 2016). The afternoon tour lasts around 2.5 hours and is suitable for anyone who would like to try out the vehicle with the thick tires, but is not sitting on a bike for the first time. The tours are conducted by the Lenzerheide Bike School.
