Innovation from QUS: Intelligent Shirt with Body Monitoring

A new and exciting innovation in sports textiles is delivered by the brand QUS with the presentation of the new washable "Smart Shirt". Thanks to new sophisticated textile sensor technology from QUS, it is possible to use the shirt for body monitoring and to generate a performance analysis during sports activities. Smart fibers measure the body data and pass it on to the 18-gram textile sensor system. It sounds exciting, but we are still waiting for a test opportunity!

'Anyone who really wants to know how their body is doing, whether it's during exercise, training, rest or sleep, now has a whole new range of options with the smart shirt from QUS. QUS offers new ways in training control, whether individually or in team sports. This is made possible by the unique and sophisticated QUS textile sensor technology 'Made in Austria', which offers new standards in measurement accuracy in body monitoring and performance analysis. The accuracy with which we can measure is amazing - especially when compared to other well-known devices from the smartwatch sector," says Steiner.

The heart of the system, in addition to the innovative textile sensor technology, is the electronics, which weigh only 18 grams and consist of 180 components that measure the data. Up to 8,000 hours can be recorded. The system works with and also without an app: i.e. it couldn't be simpler: put on a shirt and get started, no monitoring has ever been so easy and yet so accurate. 'After intensive research and development work, we will celebrate the global product launch in 2020 - a real milestone for QUS', says Steiner.

The puristic smart shirt is the result of engineering expertise and years of research: integrated smart fibers can measure all relevant vital data very close to the body and in a highly comfortable way, thus replacing the often annoying chest strap during training. These smart fibers transmit the collected body data to the 18-gram on-board unit, which is attached to either the front or back of the shirt by simple snaps. This includes data such as pulse rate, heart rate variability, breathing rate, calories burned, acceleration, geo-data as well as G-force applied to the athlete. And targeted sleep and regeneration monitoring also becomes possible with the developed sensors. Coupled through Bluetooth, the data can be transmitted either live during training, but also afterwards to an app (in private) or a detailed web dashboard (in team monitoring). Whether amateur or professional, individual or team sports, anyone who wants to know how their body and fitness are doing at the moment, the Smart-Shirt opens up new possibilities at an affordable price. The Smart-Shirt costs 199 EUR and the electronics also 199 EUR. In addition to easy handling, QUS also impresses with its robustness. If the Smart-Shirt is washed, the electronics are removed beforehand and can then be charged in parallel. It is then attached again in no time at all and is ready for the next use - it doesn't get any smarter than that.
