The Formula 1 Grand Prix Las Vegas brought Mercedes back to the top of Formula 1 with winner George Russell and Max Verstappen his fourth world championship title.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix is an absolute highlight in the annual Formula 1 calendar. The night race through the bright and glittering city of Las Vegas at night is a real spectacle and a parade of celebrities and international stars. Mercedes once again showed its strong side in this race. George Russell deservedly took pole position. The Mercedes cars were able to handle the tires best in Las Vegas and were therefore unassailable. George Russell pulled away at the start and delivered a lights-to-finish victory, even though Charles Leclerc in the Ferrari tried to overtake the Brit in the first few laps, but was just "trying". Teammate Lewis Hamilton was particularly strong, starting in 10th place and finishing in second place, which lifted the Mercedes team to the top of the teams with 43 points. Once again this year, Mercedes managed to return to "old" times, but whether this will last is questionable. The strengthened Alpine team got off to a promising start with Gasly in fifth place, but the engine could not keep up the pace and dashed the French team's hopes of a great race weekend. Since the middle of the year, Red Bull has been struggling to achieve top results, but Max Verstappen was still able to clinch his fourth world championship title, which the team celebrated. Sergio Perez contributed a point with his 10th place finish, but it seems only a matter of time before the team parts ways with the Mexican, his results are too poor, especially compared to his team mate Max Verstappen. The tire change with Sainz was so poorly coordinated that he certainly lost 5 seconds and the chance to take second place. Overall, the Ferrari drivers were understandably annoyed about internal agreements and team orders not being followed and a bad tire change that cost too much time. But it didn't help anyway, Ferrari couldn't keep up with Mercedes this time. The leading McLaren team also had to settle for 6th and 7th place. The drivers' world championship has been decided, but in the constructors' world championship Ferrari still has a chance in the last two races to overtake the McLaren team, which is leading by 25 points, and become world champions. The Formula 1 races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi in 1 and 2 weeks respectively will be really exciting in this regard.
