Dominik Schlumpf's career at EVZ ends after 12 years

With the end of the 2025/26 Swiss ice hockey season, Dominik Schlumpf's time with EVZ in Zug also comes to an end. The defenseman for the Zug ice hockey club has left a lasting mark on EVZ during his 12 years with the team. "Thank you, Dominik!"

  • 12 Seasons.
  • 660 games in blue and white.
  • 22 goals. 96 assists.
  • Twice Swiss champion. Once cup winner.
Dominik Schlumpf has significantly shaped EVZ both on and off the ice in recent years. Now their paths are diverging, as his contract expired at the end of the 2025/26 season. Dominik Schlumpf is one of EVZ's longest-serving players. In November 2014, at the age of 23, he joined Zug as part of a special swap deal: Alessio Bertaggia and Calle Andersson moved from EVZ to Lugano, while national team defenseman Dominik Schlumpf went the other way. Schlumpf arrived suddenly – and then stayed in Central Switzerland for a full twelve seasons. His time with EVZ is synonymous with Zug's rise in Swiss ice hockey: regular appearances in the playoff semi-finals and finals, culminating first in the cup victory in 2019 and then in the Swiss championship titles in 2021 and 2022.
Dominik Schlumpf: "I look back on my twelve years with EVZ with great gratitude, and Zug has become a home for me. I am incredibly grateful for everything I have experienced here: the shared successes, the emotions, the support of the fans, and the many people who have accompanied me on this journey. I will never forget this time."
Reto Kläy, General Manager of EVZ: "Dominik's contributions to EVZ are immense. I still vividly remember the trade when we brought him to Zug in 2014. A transfer that has more than paid off. On behalf of the entire EVZ organization, I thank him for his tremendous commitment to the Blue and Whites."
Whether Dominik Schlumpf will continue his ice hockey career is not yet known. If he ends it this summer, and thus with EVZ, his number 18 will be retired and retired from the OYM Hall. Schlumpf would then have fulfilled four of the five required criteria (10 years with the EVZ first team, Swiss championship with EVZ, 50 games with the Swiss national team, and ending his professional career with EVZ). EVZ thanks Dominik Schlumpf in advance for twelve unforgettable years in the EVZ jersey and wishes him all the best for the future.
