At the Diamond League meeting in Doha, some stars appeared who set new records. Since not all the big stars were present, athletes who usually play in the second row were also able to win.
After the start of the Diamond League series in China, athletics fans and stars found themselves in Doha for the third meeting. In the Olympic year, many athletics stars will focus on the Olympics in Paris in the summer, and even a meeting as big as the Diamond League will fall behind a bit. That's why you can't find the big stars in all disciplines, but some were present and delivered straight away. For example, the Brazilian Alison dos Santos ran a real dream race in the 400 m hurdles. He led confidently over the entire distance, leaving his opponents well behind him and setting the annual world best and the new meeting record with his running time of 46.86 seconds. Steven Gardiner from the Bahamas shone similarly confidently in the men's 400 m with a running time of 44.76 seconds. The Americans dominated the race in the men's 200 m. “Kenny” Bednarek achieved a new personal best of an impressive 19.67 seconds, setting the annual world best and the new meeting record. In the men's javelin throw, the world's best javelin throwers fought a tough battle. The Czech Jakub Vadlejch took victory with a razor-thin lead of 2 cm (88.38 m - 88.36 m) over Neeraj Chopra from India. Anderson Peters from Grenada also had a say, who is always good for a win. The men's long jump is always hot because there are currently excellent long jumpers making the competition attractive. In Doha, Carey McLeod from Jamaica was the lucky winner with an impressive throw of 8.52 m. Close behind was the always dangerous Greek Miltiadis Tentoglou with a distance of 8.36 m and the Swiss Simon Ehammer with 8.30 m. In the women's race, Daryll Neita won the 100 m with a running time of 10.98 seconds and a season's best. Daryll is ranked number 9 in the world and a top runner, but she hasn't had to face rivals such as Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shericka Jackson or Sha'Carri Richardson. Overall, a great meeting with outstanding stars and performances. The stars are slowly warming up for the Olympics.
