Lewis Hamilton delivered a fantastic race last weekend in Budapest, taking victory on the Hungarian Ring. Already in qualifying, he snatched pole practically in the final seconds ahead of Sebastian Vettel, who had very much expected it and was visibly annoyed at being relegated to second place on the grid. Things went even better in the race. From the start, Hamilton delivered a controlled race and clearly distanced his rivals. But here, too, the typical Hamilton as we know and love him looked through with his spirited maneuvers, always willing to risk a lot and not always lucky with it in the past, and this time he was rewarded for it. For Hamilton, this is also a psychologically important victory, as it is his first win on the Mercedes, which must also have pleased Niki Lauda, as he had engineered the deal with Lewis Hamilton with Mercedes. Hungary seems to suit the likeable Briton well, because he was on the top step of the podium for the fourth time in his career. This is particularly astonishing because before the race, despite pole position, it did not look like it would happen. After all, there had been bad experiences with the tires, especially in the hot conditions that prevailed over the weekend. With the victory in Hungary, Hamilton has also closed the gap in the overall standings and moved up to 4th place. He is currently 46 points behind Sebastian Vettel, who leads the drivers' championship.
