Trek launches e-bikes

In 2014, the renowned American bike brand Trek is launching its new e-bike line "Powerfly+" and three 29er models in Switzerland. The reason for choosing 29-inch wheels was better stability and increased comfort, because the electric hardtail does without rear suspension, which also saves weight. "We wanted to design an e-bike that is versatile, for off-road but also for the city," says Hubert Hager, the responsible marketing manager at Trek Bikes in Switzerland. But the target group should also be properly addressed: "A geometry that is too sporty misses the target group," Hager continues. The raised head tube therefore deliberately ensures more safety. And the handling should also be simple. Anyone who wants to use a rear light should not be forced to visit the bicycle mechanic.
