Matthias Sempach is the new wrestling king 2013

Tears for the winner wreath

With all his soul and with all his heart he must have wanted this title, every fiber of his body, of his inner being must have trembled and fought for it, his honest tears spoke for this when the victory became certainty, which were witness to a tremendous release of tension inside him and which revealed an extreme tension and concentration that he had to maintain during the two days at the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival 2013 (ESAF) in Burgdorf, so that at the end of the festival he could be celebrated as the new Wrestling King 2013: Matthias Sempach is a worthy Wrestling King 2013. And to put it briefly in a nutshell: The victory was fully deserved. Matthias Sempach was clearly the best swinger in Switzerland on this wonderful weekend. From the beginning he dominated every fight and won it without ifs and buts, clearly and unambiguously, with determination, power, high assertiveness and the necessary willingness to take risks. Not only that this year's festival took place in Bern, no, it was also clearly a festival of the Bernese, who massively dominated this wrestling festival. First and foremost the two Bernese Matthias Sempach and Christian Stucki. The one, Matthias Sempach, tall and built like a model athlete, the other, Christian Stucki, as massive as a bear, who with his 150 kg literally rolled over his opponents. One had to feel a little sorry for Kilian Wenger, the 2010 wrestling king, when it was already clear after the second round, which he unfortunately lost, that he would no longer be able to fight for the crown; a bitter disappointment for him and all his supporters. It was not to be Wenger's celebration, but Sempach's celebration. Sempach combined strength, determination, technique and a pinch of cleverness and never gave his opponents the slightest chance. As soon as he had finished a fight, he left the arena without delay in order to be able to concentrate on himself again; his interviews were friendly, but short, you could tell he was under pressure. Perhaps it was this constant tension that made the difference in the end, because his biggest opponent, Christian Stucki, seemed confident, calm, friendly and always had a smile for the camera, he did not seem so tense. If at the beginning Stucki led the ranking, Sempach took the lead by winning all his seven fights. So Stucki and the other wrestlers had to go into the 8th round, Matthias Sempach was already qualified for the final round. At the end, the two favorites faced each other and you could tell they were friends who wanted each other to win. What an atmosphere! Stucki attacked, he did not want to give away this victory lightly, he used his enormous weight and he knew he had to win, Sempach grabbed his chance when he attacked, grabbed Stucki strongly, threw him on his back and pushed him to the ground with all his strength so that Stucki could no longer escape his fate. Now it was done: The wrestling king 2013 is called Matthias Sempach!
