On May 19, 2018, skateboard fans from all parts of Switzerland will meet and race on the 8000 square meter pump track in Grenchen. It is the second of a total of six tour stops of the Skateboard PumpKing Challenge, where athletes can qualify for the Swiss Championship.
Starting with the idea to unite the skate, surf and snowboard scene, Dani 'Gummi' Rietmann founded the Challange in 2016, which did not yet exist in the world. Where previously mainly BMX and mountain bikers met, now the athletes compete on four wheels. Racing with skateboards on the Pumptrack developed into a new discipline with great potential. Thus, the Challenge has now officially become the Swiss Pumptrack Skating Championship and is used by professionals as preparation for the Summer Olympics.
Professionals show how it's done
The 8000 square meter facility in Grenchen is one of the largest in the world and has been used for years by professionals from the ski and snowboard scene for training. This time, well-known names such as Tim and Nick Watter, Tamara Prader and many more will be on site to show the youngsters how to master the hills and steep turns of a pumptrack. Former snowboard pro Fabien Rohrer has set himself the goal of beating the unbeaten record of Thomas Schumann for the first time. The Swiss Skateboard Academy is on site with skateboard pro Simon Stricker and offers workshops for ambitious skateboarders.

The Sk8board PumpKing Challenge (SPKC) aims to unite all board sports enthusiasts. Surfers, skaters and snowboarders race against each other in single race mode on pump tracks and crown the PumpKing of Switzerland.
