MTB World Cup Lenzerheide 2015: Baptism of fire passed

Lenzerheide had the challenging task of hosting an international mountain bike World Cup in the disciplines of cross country and downhill on the first weekend of July this year from 3 - 5. Lenzerheide passed the baptism of fire with flying colors. Fantastic weather, an exciting course setting and numerous, satisfied fans are the conclusion of the event. Only the Swiss mountain bike stars could not score as hoped.

Thousands of fans had traveled to Lenzerheide this weekend and, in bright weather, cheered on the racers who either bravely plunged into the valley or laboriously struggled up and down the trails to stand on the podium at the end. An exciting course setting had done its part to provide real competition excitement. Among the riders, race luck and race bad luck showed up differently, which should have their influence on the race outcome. Overall, the event was a success and the atmosphere among the spectators was excellent. In addition, the Swiss riders had the extra motivation of winning in Lenzerheide in front of their home crowd, which also created a certain euphoria among the fans.

The Swiss drivers ran out of air
Everything was perfect, only for the Swiss athletes it went a bit like jinxed. Nino Schurter had a flat tire to complain about and therefore had to give the victory out of his hands. Emilie Siegenthaler, who had finished 5th in qualifying, broke the rim in the race after a jump and the air was out of the tire. And Jolanda Neff literally ran out of breath and soon had to capitulate against the stronger Dahle....
