Lindsey Vonn is the most successful female alpine ski racer in history to date. With a total of 82 World Cup victories, she has set a new record in the women's World Cup and a record in the men's and women's World Cup with 8 downhill victories. Her sometimes overwhelming dominance in the speed disciplines (downhill and super G) has left its mark on an entire World Cup generation, but as successful as she has been in the World Cup, she has suffered at major events such as the World Championships and Olympics. Often enough, she was the victim of knee injuries and depression, which put a spanner in her works. She had to be all the happier when she skied her last race at the World Cup Downhill in Are, Sweden, on Feb. 10, 2019, and won the bronze medal.
