K2 Luv Allmountain, 2016/17

K2 Luv Allmountain

The motto of last winter "Bringing back the luv again" is continued this winter. All women's all-mountain models therefore contain the term "luv" in their name. Luv, of course, stands for love. As the leading brand when it comes to all-mountain skis and rocker technology, K2 has been quick to launch women's skis that are equally suited to women's anatomy and technologically on par with those of men. A new women's ski designed for last winter, the Channel Light Core, illustrates that K2 places a lot of emphasis on the highest level of technology in women's skis as well. The five models are designed for the versatile female skier who is at home both on the slopes and in the powder.

All terrain rocker

As the name suggests, this type of rocker from K2 stands for use in all types of terrain. The All-Terrain Rocker™ has a slightly raised shovel for optimum performance in variable and soft snow and enough preload under the binding for plenty of precision and edge grip on icy slopes and hard snow.

Catch-Free Rocker

A rocker technology for beginners: The elevation of the shovel and ski tail allows beginners easier turn initiation, stability during the turn and safe, effortless turn control. The ski glides effortlessly around turns, even at low speed, without the shovel or tail getting stuck in the snow and jamming.

Bioflex wood core

The BioFlex wood core is used in the K2 Women skis and combines the different flex properties of aspen, paulownia and bamboo. The harder aspen wood provides stability and power under the binding, while the lighter paulownia wood at the shovel and ski tip provides easy turn initiation, lower weight and easy handling. 2011/12 there are 3 different BioFlex cores: bioflex 1 - 60% Aspen and 40% Paulownia - forgiving and light bioflex 2 - 70% Aspen and 30% Paulownia - light weight and strong performance bioflex 3 - 80% Aspen and 20% Paulownia - highest performance, power and durability

Channel Light Core

New at K2 is the Channel Light Core. In this women-specific wood core channels are milled out over the entire length of the ski to save unnecessary material and reduce weight. Easy handling and a harmonious flex are the result. The BioFlex core and the metal laminates specifically reinforce the side areas of the ski.

Metal laminate

The ski has a lightweight titanium alloy that runs along the entire length of the ski above and below the core. Only the highest quality ski models from K2 are equipped with this most complex structure. Starting from the base, this construction consists of alternating layers of fiberglass and titanium wrapped around the wood core. Metal laminate provides superior damping, stability, torsional stiffness and precise and uncompromising performance for sporty all-mountain skiers.

Triaxial Braiding

Triaxial Braiding was developed by K2 in 1988 and is still considered the best process for joining fiberglass to a wood core. In this process, a pre-treated wood core is passed through a patented Triaxial Braiding machine, which wraps it with pre-braided fiberglass strands. This unique method produces skis with perfectly tuned torsional stiffness, and a forgiving character, without sacrificing the dynamics and lively flex of the wood core

Hybritech sidewall

Hybritech is the unique combination of a sidewall and a cap construction. It combines the precision, power and performance of a sidewall under the binding with the lightness and smooth turn initiation of a cap construction.
