K2 Freestyle Factory, 2016/17

K2 Freestyle Factory

The three freestyle models from K2 are clearly aimed at applications in the park. The Poacher is the model that is suitable for icy park sessions and scores with high resistance and high responsiveness. The Sight is a precise pipe ski that cuts a fine figure on high walls and large lan dings. The Press is aimed at park beginners who will be happy about a little more pop and the cap construction that forgives more mistakes.

All terrain rocker

As the name suggests, this type of rocker from K2 stands for use in all types of terrain. The All-Terrain Rocker™ has a slightly raised shovel for optimum performance in variable and soft snow and enough preload under the binding for plenty of precision and edge grip on icy slopes and hard snow.

Jib Rocker

For terrain park use, the raised ski tips combined with zero preload in the binding area provide the best blend of ollie power and playful handling and control for buttering and jib tricks.

Cap construction

"Cap" skis are manufactured using a sophisticated compression molding method in which the top layer of the ski envelops the core and internal materials. Cap skis are basically very durable and lightweight, which is why this technology is used in all series. Depending on the composition of the core material layers result in the different riding characteristics of each model.

TwinTech sidewall

This new Twin Tip specific construction increases the durability of sidewall skis. In a traditional sidewall construction, the top sheet and the side face are at a 90° angle to each other. This sharp angle is susceptible to damage. In contrast, the new Twin Tech construction overlaps the top sheet and sidewall, creating a flatter angle and better protecting the ski from damage.

Triaxial Braiding

Triaxial Braiding was developed by K2 in 1988 and is still considered the best process for joining fiberglass to a wood core. In this process, a pre-treated wood core is passed through a patented Triaxial Braiding machine, which wraps it with pre-braided fiberglass strands. This unique method produces skis with perfectly tuned torsional stiffness, and a forgiving character, without sacrificing the dynamics and lively flex of the wood core

Park Flex

With the help of our athletes, K2 has developed a unique core profile that gives the ski tip and shovel a bending pattern with more pop, which improves grip. Designed for the park, this core has more flex quality in both ski tip and shovel, but gives the midsection a rock solid character to provide control and confidence.

Swap Base

The base tone of these skis can appear in two different shades, depending on how the colors were blended. This gives the ski multiple appearances and is to ensure that you are not riding the exact same ski that your colleague has also chosen.

Carbon Boost Braid

Braided carbon pattern in the forebody and tail for added pop and rebound in the critical areas.

Woven carbon mesh in the front of the ski and shovel provide additional momentum and rebound in critical areas.

Tip/Tail Hardware

This new Twin Tip specific construction increases the durability of sidewall skis. In a traditional sidewall construction, the top sheet and the side face are at a 90° angle to each other. This sharp angle is susceptible to damage. In contrast, the new Twin Tech construction overlaps the top sheet and sidewall, creating a flatter angle and better protecting the ski from damage.

Double Barrel

Dense core over the edge for long life combined with a less dense center core for reduced swing weight.
