Hotel Intercontinental Davos: Unfortunate start

The newly opened Intercontinental Davos got off to a somewhat unfortunate start last winter. The new 5-star hotel was supposed to take over the leading role among the luxury hotels in Davos, but instead the tenant, Stilli Park AG, slid into bankruptcy after only six months. This was partly due to an enormously high rent of CHF 405,000.00/month and a weak occupancy rate of the hotel, which sometimes did not even reach 20%. Not entirely innocent will probably have been the chilly atmosphere and stiff staff we encountered during our visit in January. But things are moving forward under the new tenant, Weriwald AG. Director Pedersen is impressive, actually answering numerous comments on Holidaycheck and visibly caring about his guests. I think the hotel deserves a second chance.
