Canadian ski maker G3 (Genuine Guide Gear) has replaced its previous freeride model SENDr with two new freshly-baked SLAYr models. Not only the design has won, but especially the weight. Lugged freetourer with the SENDr between 3.5- 3.9 kg up the mountain, it is the new SLAYr still 3.1-3.5 kg, which must be shouldered and you feel it. The SLAYr owes its weight advantage primarily to the use of balsa wood in the core instead of the previous mixture of poplar and paulownia wood. The new models - a normal model and a Swift model for smaller adults - with a whopping 114 mm center width are the right toys for backcountry enthusiasts who want to be the first to plow through untracked powder and conjure up their lines in pristine deep snow.
