F1 GP Hungary: Verstappen misses out on his 2nd win

GP Hungary Lewis Hamilton cheers

In the last race before the summer break, it looked for a long time like a start-finish victory for the Red Bull team's number 1 after an excellent start by Max Verstappen. But due to a failed tire management (one-stop strategy), Lewis Hamilton was able to catch up in the second half of the race and take the lead with four laps to go.

Max Verstappen was unable to defend himself against the Briton's attack with his old tires. However, as he was almost a minute ahead of Charles Leclerc behind him, he changed tires again to at least score a point for the fastest lap.

Sebastian Vettel overtook his teammate Leclerc with three laps to go and finished the race on the podium.

Valtteri Bottas suffered damage to his front wing in a duel with his teammate in the early stages of the race and was thus unable to capitalize on his good 2nd place on the grid, losing many positions.

As Sebastian Vettel said after the race, there is a lot of work ahead of them, addressing the lack of performance of the Ferraris, which lost almost a second per lap compared to the leaders.
