Dan Tangnes becomes new head coach of EV Zug

The EVZ appoints 39-year-old Dan Tangnes as the new head coach of the EVZ. The native Norwegian signs a two-year contract.

With Dan Tangnes, the EVZ has found a young and dynamic coach to implement the chosen strategy as an ambitious training club. In the last three seasons, Tangnes was head coach of the Swedish team HC Linköping and did an excellent job in developing young players.

The installation and promotion of young athletes in the NL team will be of great importance for the EVZ in the coming years. The EVZ wants to establish itself as a training club at the top in the long term and wants to become the best training facility in Swiss ice hockey. To this end, the EVZ has invested a lot in recent years with the training concept The Hockey Academy and the establishment of its own Swiss League farm team EVZ Academy. The necessary foundation has thus been laid to produce the squad width of its own NL team from its own ranks in the future. For Patrick Lengwiler, CEO of EVZ, the right head coach has been found in Dan Tangnes: "Dan Tangnes convinced us in the negotiations. He has worked with young athletes in the past and wants to continue to do so in the future. Together, we will shape the EVZ into the best training facility in Switzerland in the coming years and play successful ice hockey."

Born in Oslo, Dan Tangnes spent around ten years in Sweden, working for both the Linköping and Rögle organizations. The new head coach is looking forward to the challenge at the EVZ: "I have gained a very good impression of the EVZ organization, they have a clear goal and pursue it consistently. I'm looking forward to doing my part for a successful EVZ."

Together with the new head coach, decisions will be made about the coaching staff in the coming weeks.
