Corona virus: Tennis ATP/WTA tournaments suspended until June 7

Joint ATP & WTA statement: After careful consideration and due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, all ATP and WTA tournaments will not take place as scheduled on clay courts this spring. This includes the combined ATP/WTA tournaments in Madrid and Rome, as well as the WTA tournaments in Strasbourg and Rabat, and the ATP tournaments in Munich, Estoril, Geneva and Lyon.

The professional tennis season is now suspended until June 7, 2020, including the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF World Tennis Tour. At this time, tournaments taking place from June 8, 2020 will still be held according to the published schedule.

In parallel, the FedEx ATP Rankings and WTA Rankings will be frozen during this period and until further notice.

The challenges posed to professional tennis by the COVID-19 pandemic require all members of the tennis community to work together more than ever before to ensure the sport moves forward together in the best interest of players, tournaments and fans.

We are reviewing all options related to maintaining and maximizing the tennis calendar based on various tour return dates that are unknown at this time. We are committed to working with our player and tournament members, as well as the other governing bodies, on these issues in the coming weeks and months.

Now is not the time to act unilaterally, but in unison. Any decisions related to the impact of the coronavirus require proper consultation and review with stakeholders in the game, a view shared by the ATP, WTA, ITF, AELTC, Tennis Australia and USTA.
