Corinne Suter's first World Cup win

In Zauchensee, Austria, a shortened women's downhill took place today. Due to fog, the race organizers decided to move the start house to the reserve start "Hot Air". But the visibility conditions continued to cause problems for the runners, as the visibility changed little by little.

With a good run and more than half a second advantage Michelle Gisin pushed the Austrian Stephanie Venier, who was in the lead until then, from the top.

After Gisin, teammate Corinne Suter took up the race in seventh place. Better visibility conditions than the forerunners, but also a very good choice of line and a compact skiing style meant that she was almost a second faster than her teammates. With this ride the victory was her first World Cup win no longer to take away.

Several race interruptions due to the fog coming up again on the track delayed the start procedure. Sofia Goggia also had to wait almost a quarter of an hour until she could restart the race with bib number 11. Her run was not flawless, but she managed to finish on the provisional podium just over a second behind.

Only Nicole Delago, who left the start house in seventeenth place, managed to push Goggia off the podium and break the Swiss lead. The Italian proved with her run that Corinne Suter was not the only one who could master the course and set a super time. Not even three tenths separated her from the winner.
