Break-in at SCOTT Sports SA: 200 stolen bikes

Just reached us a message from SCOTT Sports SA that over the weekend of June 1, 2014 was broken into the warehouse of the company in Givisiez and stolen about 200 bikes. This is obviously a professional perpetrators. Not only the alarmingly high number of stolen bikes speaks for this, but also the fact that the burglars tricked the alarm system and were not noticed by anyone. In addition to various high-quality road bikes and mountain bikes of the current season, the perpetrators also captured some 2015 models that are not yet on sale, as well as a truck from a neighboring company, with which they transported the bikes away. The thieves stole about 200 bikes with an average value of CHF 4,500.00, causing SCOTT Sports a loss of almost 1 million Swiss francs, which hopefully is insured. "It is a sad truth that the bicycle industry, be it dealers, manufacturers or professional teams, has repeatedly been the victim of serious burglaries that have left great damage," says Pascal Ducrot, vice president of SCOTT Sports SA, about the incident.
