With Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, the current number 37 in the ATP world rankings, Stanislas Warinka really didn't have an easy opponent today. With determination and tenacity, the Spaniard stood up to the Swiss number 4 in world tennis. Time and again, however, Wawrinka showed his playing class with impressive forehand winners and a truly indomitable will to win. This became particularly clear in the tie-break of the fourth set, in which it was 5:0 in favor of the Spaniard within a very short time. It seemed almost hopeless that "Stan" could still turn the match around. Garcia-Lopez's win in the set was actually already a foregone conclusion, but the Swiss's world-class play and clear determination made the almost impossible possible: Wawrinka won the tie-break 10-8 and with it the third set and the match, which had been very close throughout.
