The luxury hotel "The Chedi Andermatt" is opened

This will make many friends of the Andermatt / Gotthard vacation region very happy and silence many critics of the courageous project that Samih Sawiris has launched in Andermatt: On December 20, 2013, the gates of the noble hotel "The Chedi Andermatt" will finally open. For all those who like the Andermatt vacation region but have avoided a vacation stay because they lacked upscale hotel and gastronomic offerings, a little dream is now coming true. The new 5-star superior hotel is enthroned in the heart of the pretty village of Uri.

50 hotel rooms, 106 residences and 13 luxurious penthouses await customers willing and able to pay from Christmas 2013. Gastronomically, The Chedi welcomes its guests with two restaurants, a Cigar Lounge, a Wine Library and various bars. Of course, an exclusive wellness oasis for relaxation and a modern fitness center for physical training are not to be missed.

However, the project is still far from being completed. Currently, the company is waiting for the concession from the federal government so that the huge expansion of the ski region with 17 new lifts can begin. According to Markus Berger, head of communications at Andermatt Swiss Alps AG, they expect construction to begin between April and June 2014, depending on the snow situation, and it is expected to take 2-3 years.

As of December 20, 2013, Andermatt will become a bit classier, at least as far as the hotel business is concerned, and that is a real Christmas present for the friends of this great skiing and vacation region.
